Work programme and delivery
In November 2023, Elkins Construction was awarded a contract by Thanet District Council to undertake a programme of kitchen and bathroom replacements, plus associated works such as electrical upgrades, in council homes across the borough.
The contract spans a three-year period and a certain number of properties are set to be completed each year. The first batch of works began in February 2024 with a pilot kitchen, followed by replacements at 40 other properties over eight weeks between mid-April and mid-June. The Elkins team was given a time frame to complete the replacements for each individual property, depending on the scope of the works required, in order to minimise the disruption for residents. Work on the first stage of the project was completed successfully, with 100% of the properties finished within the given time frames.
As of November 2024, the second stage of the contract has now also been completed, with the next stage set to begin next year.
