What does your role involve?
My current role as Elkins’ Admin Assistant has so far involved me assisting several departments within the head office, helping them fulfil their tasks and achieve success. This has given me a greater understanding of the different areas of work the business carries out. When I applied for the role, I wasn’t sure what area I wanted to specialise in, but Elkins has given me the opportunity to work with each department and see which area I naturally gravitate towards, which I’m very thankful for.
What’s your background?
Prior to coming to Elkins, I worked as an Assistant Manager at Hollywood Bowl, which involved me managing a team of up to 20 people at one time. My background is over eight years of experience in customer-facing jobs, including bar work. Growing up in a pub, I have been picking up shifts for as long as I can remember, but working at Elkins is a totally different ballgame.
Although I didn’t know too much about the business before I started, I’m keen to learn and take advice from anyone who is willing to help me progress, which so far has been everyone I’ve met here. I was looking for a change and a more secure workplace, surrounded by people who enjoy their job and want to be at work, which is what I have found at Elkins.
What are you enjoying most so far about your role?
So far, I’ve enjoyed meeting new people and learning more about the company. Although I have only been here for three weeks, it feels like longer. I am enjoying coming to work and don’t go home stressed, plus, I like having more of a routine.
I’m looking forward to developing a deeper understanding of the different areas of the business. I like the fact that, as I’m currently working across four different departments, I get to assist everyone and learn a wide range of different skills.
What appealed to you about Elkins?
My sister works for the company, and she has for the last 10+ years. I’ve seen how they have valued her and how everyone is treated like family. I think it’s really important to have a job you enjoy and work with people you like.
I remember when Elkins used to have social events in my mum’s pub and seeing how well everyone got on, so when my sister told me there was a job going, I knew I wanted to be a part of the team. I would love to have a long and thriving career at Elkins as I like the company’s family values and being part of a growing company that is invested in helping me to succeed.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my spare time, I enjoy family time, seeing my friends and helping out in my family’s business. I also like going to the pub for drinks and going out for food. I like to spend time with my nephew and my dog.

Loyal, determined and honest.
