Work programme and delivery

In June 2024, Elkins Construction was awarded a contract to carry out £1.5m of external refurbishment work across multiple residential blocks in Elephant and Castle for Metro Central Heights RTM and Olympus Management.

Constructed in the 1960s, Metro Central Heights, was originally designed as an office complex by Hungarian modernist architect, Erno Goldfinger. In 1997, it was converted into a residential development with 400 homes, a gym and swimming pool. The apartments range in size from studios to three-bedrooms and are in high demand from young professionals due to the development’s close proximity to the City and West End. The building’s iconic design led to it becoming Grade II listed in 2013.

The refurbishment programme involves extensive exterior works, including concrete repairs, decorating, window works and other external repairs, and is split across two phases. The first phase was completed in November 2024 and work on the second phase is now underway and expected to be completed in 2025.
