In this next installment of our meet the team series, we sat down with Elkins’ Site Manager, Stephen Ward, to find out more about his love for sports and what he’s enjoying the most about his new role so far.
What’s your job title?
Site Manager
What does your role involve?
In a nutshell, my role involves managing the day-to-day operations, liaising with the client and our supply chain partners, and monitoring progress on site. I’m also responsible for health and safety and ensuring all procedures and standards are complied with.
What’s your background?
Since leaving school, I worked for Wates Living Space for three years, and United Living for nine years. I was involved in various projects, overseeing both internal and external schemes, and worked and trained my way up to becoming a Site Manager.
What are you most looking forward to about your new role?
I’m enjoying being involved in the day-to-day running of a large site, where different elements of work are being completed at the same time. I’m looking forward to using my knowledge and skills to progress projects, and I’m keen to learn and manage new streams of work alongside my colleagues and our contractors.
What attracted you to this position?
I was looking for a role where I could be involved in projects covering all aspects of refurbishment and construction. My own research about the company and the positive feedback I received from current staff made me eager to join the Elkins family.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy all sports and regularly play golf, as well as cricket in the summer. I’m also a Crystal Palace FC supporter and follow them all year round.
If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Chilled, ambitious and sporty
We’re off to the pub – what’s your order?
A nice cold pint of any lager… Mmmmm.
Say hello to Stephen on social media – we are on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.
